Rest for Revolution
November 9th, 2025 6:00-8:00pm
ACCESSIBLE PRICING | BEGINNER-FRIENDLY | RESTFUL SPACE
Rest disrupts systems of oppression by affirming that our worth is not tied to labor. By slowing down, we heal, restore our imagination, and create the clarity and strength needed to sustain resistance and collective liberation.
Workshop will be hosted at Gather - 2612 Eagle St, Anchorage, AK 99503
About the Class:
Explore how deepening our relationship to rest and dreamspace, through the scientifically researched and restful technology of Yoga Nidra, can assists us in clarifying mental clutter and revealing our path, being in our shared humanity and right relationship with the more-than-human world, reducing individual and collective suffering, and envisioning a future where we are healthy and free.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra, often called “yogic sleep,” is a guided awareness practice that brings you into a state between wakefulness and sleep. It deeply relaxes the body while keeping the mind aware, helping to release tension and stress. Through body scanning, breath awareness, and visualization, Yoga Nidra promotes rest, healing, and inner balance.
During Yoga Nidra, brain waves gradually slow, shifting from active beta waves to alpha and theta states—similar to those experienced in deep relaxation or dreaming. In this state, the body can release tension, the nervous system can reset, and deep patterns of stress or emotional holding can begin to unwind.
Yoga Nidra is rooted in ancient yogic philosophy and aims to help practitioners experience pratyahara—a withdrawal of the senses—leading toward deeper meditation and self-awareness. On a practical level, it improves sleep, reduces anxiety, enhances focus, and fosters a sense of inner peace and balance.
Why Attend?
Restore Balance: Help regulate your nervous system and energy levels overwhelmed by constant daylight and activity, especially in preparation for darker, slower months ahead
Improve Sleep Quality: Gentle poses and guided breathing promote melatonin production and better nighttime rest.
Support Mental Clarity: Create space for mindfulness and dreaming, easing seasonal anxiety and overstimulation for greater emotional balance and focus.
Upcoming Workshops to look forward to:
Subtle Belonging: A 7-part self-exploration series guided and informed by the Chakras model and the Seven Homecomings by Tibetan Buddhist Lama Rod Owens. This will be for those seeking to deepen their Sahdhana (spiritual practice) and build community that supports us bringing forward our fullest expressions of self. Beginning January 2026
Rest for Resistance: January date TBD
By rooting ourselves in self-awareness, self-discovery, and self-care, we are providing communal care. It is through this deep and intimate knowing of the self that we may truly show up for and help shape the world around us. By learning to (co)create a self-sufficient and sustainable ecosystems within, we are better able to step into our lives through ALIGNED action, writing a new story rooted in love, compassion, empowerment, self-actualization, and truth.
